Gozo or Ghawdex in Maltese is the second large island of the Maltese archipelago from the Mediterranean Sea. In comparison with island Malta, Gozo is more rural and world-wide known for its scenic hills. This characteristics attract every year many holiday makers in search for a peaceful vacation. Gozo is also known as "Isle of Calypso", name which come from the mythological poem of Homer, Odyssey. In the myth, this island was home of nymph Calypso who detained Ulysses, the hero of the story, as prisoner for seven years.

Gozo has been vastly influenced by the cultures of a series of dominators like the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Spanish, the Knights of St. John (best known as Knights of Malta), the French, and the British; all left their mark on the cultural and the folkloristic heritage of the Maltese population.
The main tourist attraction of Gozo, Malta, include Cathedral Church of Gozo, Aurora Theatre, Santwarju tal-Madonna ta' Pinu, St. George's Basilica and Parish, Astra Theatre, Inland Sea, Fungus Rock, Azure Window, Ramla Bay, and Fontana Springs.
Like on its sister island Malta, Gozo features a few well developed beach resorts dotted with all-inclusive hotels and luxurious villas. Room prices and renting rates depend mainly on the season.
