BulletHolidays on Comino, Malta - All-inclusive hotels & villas

Comino (or Kemmuna in Maltese) is part of the Maltese archipelago, located between islands Malta and Gozo in the Mediterranean Sea. Island Comino is better known for its tranquility and isolation, being a place for peaceful holidays. Still it has a few luxurious villas and all-inclusive hotels which offer vacation activities.
In the 16 and 17 centuries, Comino served as a place of imprisonment for convicted Knights of Malta. The Knights who were convicted for minor crimes were occasionally sentenced to the lonely and dangerous task of manning St. Mary's Tower! This tower was built to serve as an early warning system in case of invasion and is now a main tourist attraction.
Nowadays, Comino is a bird sanctuary and nature reserve and for this reason many tourists visit it. Beside this and St. Mary's Tower, on Comino can be seen a small Roman Catholic chapel dedicated to the Sacred Family and St. Mary's Battery, built in 1716.
A great vacation attraction is also the Blue Lagoon, which is located between Comino and the adjacent islet of Cominotto. The Blue Lagoon is visited by large numbers of tourists and tour boats daily because it is a picturesque bay, with white sandy beaches and rich marine life that make it popular with divers, swimmers and snorkeling fans.
On Comino are not to many accommodation facilities, but tourists can find lodging at a few villas and all-inclusive hotels settled above San Niklaw Bay, which have private beaches. On this island can be also spent holidays in a few bungalows settled by Santa Marija Bay.
